TERAble teenage troubles.

TERA has unveiled some new class game-play videos as reported on Massively. The new classes, the Sexeror and the Rangewhore, carry on the grand tradition of the TERA marketing team in generally ignoring the wide range of compelling races in the game to concentrate on presenting females with improbable body dimensions who are dressed in what readers of Sex Workers Monthly voted as among the top ten outfits that are too slutty to work in.

Is that it then, are action MMOs just for the horny teenage male population ages 15-18, or are they simply being made by them?

Look forward to future TERA videos including the Tentaclons and their wandering tentacle hand… things; random gusts of wind that blow skirts up with hilarious consequences; and the dreaded Lycran, monsters with the enviable power to control bra and knicker elastic at will.

I think the original video took the cake.
These two weren’t nearly as bad, and they actually showed off more gameplay than character animations.

Like: Enemies seem smarter, they react more intelligently (see original video)
Like: The use of “campfire”/those sorcerer crop-circle-things. Interesting mechanics.
    Like: Environments look great.
Dislike: Enemies are still just as stupid when in actual combat. They just mindlessly run straight to their death, trampling over the dead bodies of their buddies to get to you.

And because combat is what you will be doing 90% of your time, that last dislike is weighted so much heavier than all my likes combined. Still can’t get a good feel for the gameplay until I play it though.

You mean people actually watch these videos for reasons other than as a cheap substitute for porn?

I’m torn on TERA: the race and world design had me excited to start with, but the combat seems to be simply WoW raid design but with Deadly Boss Mods built-in, i.e. you watch the monster for a sign that you need to dodge/step out of the fire/dance the macarena. Basically it seems to be your standard MMO combat except you spend the entire time circle-strafing instead of standing still.

The biggest issue for me at the moment is how bad the grind will be. Aion was lovely and had plenty of potential, but it was tedious a Eastern-style grindfest after the first few levels. Bluehole say that they’re going for a quest hub design but there’s not much demonstration of it yet, not compared to the time devoted to showing off breast physics and knicker elastic, at least.

I am assuming that the given the power to control bra and knicker elastic that the end game Lycran raid boss will be called ‘Brandius Russ’, and the only way to defeat him will be to lure his minion, ‘Rossjon’ into persuading the boss into making an ill advised phone call?
