Thought for the day.

We wondered if part of the issue with Dragon Age 2’s mixed review success was down to the unfulfilled expectations that the game’s title invoked. Reviews might have been more favourable and the Internet outrage less if, instead of Dragon Age 2, Bioware had instead named it ‘Dragon Age: Don’t take it personally, Hawke, it just ain’t your story’

Quote MarkAnd although the combat is fairly frequent and repetitive, it is thankfully quickly dispensed with, and therefore never really gets in the way of this most excellent dating simulator.

I have absolutely nothing in any way enlightening to contribute to this, but the captcha for the comment was “bandersnatch” done in hot pink, and I found myself unable to resist, so there you are.

It seems popular all of a sudden. Perhaps the KiaSA captcha AI is on a bit of a retro nonsense-innuendo binge, returning to the works of the Grand Master.

I couldn’t resist your Captcha either. Splungthrust! Hell to the yeah, that sounds hot.

I think DA2 probably gets a lot better reviews from people more into story and characters than traditional RPGs. I think it’s exceptionally popular with women. I ultimately have come to the conclusion that I prefer it to DA:O because of the inter-character relationships. So yeah, maybe it is a glorified dating simulator.

“Fenris splungthrust his way towards her quivering bandersnatch”

Hoom, no, I’m just no good at this fanfic malarkey.

Well there’s another one for ya, “frucking”. Incorporating that into your sentence there should be easy. :D

I have to say, I love the KiaSA captcha. The other day it taught me a new word. The fear of cheese or Turophobia, I believe.

As for Dragon Age 2, I haven’t played it yet (it’s on my list). But reading the review of “Don’t take it personally, babe, it just ain’t your story” on RPS makes me wonder if I’d enjoy the game. I can stomach anime but I don’t think a game about teen romances would hold me for long. Hm, maybe I should nudge it towards a female gamer and see if they like it.

Ah yes, I think that’s something to do with illicitly loving a tropical fruit.

Always let it be said that the KiaSA captcha AI teaches and disgusts in equal measure.

I think ‘Don’t take it personally and et cetera’ has had as many mixed reviews as DA2. It was picked in this instance primarily because it’s the social/dating/interactive fiction sim du jour. The fact that its story is curiously not really about (or particularly under the control of) the main protagonist was an added parallelism bonus.

if anything having the title “Dragon Age 2” and the Bioware branding makes people more inclined to think that it’s good and give it more credit than it deserves…
