Reading Ysh’s thoughts on the social considerations of soloing, duoing and grouping in MMOs, and having recently had cause to muse about such a situation myself, I pondered on the subject some more, and during that time the question I had the most fun and difficulty answering was this:
Could I happily duo with myself in an MMO?
I’d be so annoying. “We’re going this way” No, this way “no this way, it’s better!” This way is clearly better!

Which is what I’d be like to duo with too. “What? Where? Oh wait, I need a drink.” Fightfightfight “Ack wait the dog’s hurking on the carpet!” Diediedie “Ok back!”
I’ve dual-boxed quite successfully in WoW and LotRO. I don’t have two computers side by side at my new place so can’t do so easily anymore, but it’s not hard in theory. The tricky part is setting up your hotkeys so you can control two characters at the same time without having them do wildly asymmetrical things (“OK, attacking the monster!” “Wait, you’re doing what now? I was healing it…”)
