The Captcha tells me "spoke"... which I can only assume refers to the act of speaking your foes into submission rather than breaking apart bicycle tires and using the pointy bits as weapons.

Speaking of insults in combat systems, the classic Pkunk fighters from Star Control 2 recharge their combat batteries by verbally insulting their foes. They are, to date, far and away my favorite dogfighting aliens.

I hadn't seen, no, but I'm certainly not surprised. There are plenty of Thoughts for the Day out there now too.

Then again, this being the Internet, it's incredibly likely that someone else did it before us and those other blogs are imitating them, or they came up with the idea on their own.

As long as our readers are entertained, that's all that matters to me.

I couldn't possibly presume as to what the Captcha system was thinking, but the world needs more Moomins and less slithy toves, that's for sure.

Did you know other MMO bloggers have started playing with their capchas now?

Can't remember which one it was but I saw one this morning that seemed more kiasa than you guys.

Perhaps we've started something.

Today's antispam word is Toves, no doubt a homage to literary great Tove Jansson, much revered creator of the Moomins.

I think our sentient Captcha system would probably be one of the best players in the world of such a game.

Bookworm Adventures: Insult Edition is a most splendid idea, though.

I wonder if it would be possible to design a combat engine that worked by having players insult monsters and assigning scores to the words selected based on various criteria designed to promote interesting and unusual insults.

Sort of like Scrabble meets Monty Python, kill ten rats by mocking their unratliness.
