The recent controversy over Infinity Ward's decision not to allow dedicated servers for PC versions of Modern Warfare 2 is just the latest in a long line of humiliations. Dedicated servers were one of those few remaining things that differentiated PC gaming from consoles and gave PC gaming an edge. Infinity Ward are probably just being pragmatic given that the vast bulk of their profits come from consoles. Indeed I have seen plenty of comments from bemused console gamers about the controversy along the lines of "Why are the PC gamers whining (again) we have never had dedicated servers so why should they"? It's especially maddening they try to infect me with it. But yeah, whatever happened to PC and Xbox users playing together in harmony? Can't we all just get along?
