Plus ça change.

You know, Mythic, having come back to WAR to give it a second chance after the tempting lure of being able to play a Slayer, it’s hard for someone like me to stick around when, after all this time, your game STILL doesn’t remember the position of my chat windows, such that I have to move them every time I log in.

Minor things like this make your game look disproportionately shoddy and unprofessional, because they’re in the user’s face, and they’re there every time that user logs in.

I should be playing your game and not sitting here contemplating writing an AddOn to fix such a stupid thing.

Then again, it really riles me that I can’t get my character’s eyebrow colour to match their hair colour, so you probably shouldn’t to listen to my wibblings.

Especially when I haven’t had my second cup of coffee of the morning yet. I’m like a grumpy old bear who hasn’t had his second cup of coffee of the morning.

Shouldn’t we always expect this kind of experience from an MMO released after WoW?

I thought that was the norm. in the day to day MMO gaming landscape…

Is there room in the grumpy old bear club? That window thing really annoys me. Yes, it’s minor, but it’s like a paper cut that never goes away. There are several other WAR-paper cuts that mean I’m not playing it right now.

@DM Osbon: I think we all still expect MMOs to be released as bug-ridden ‘ready for beta testing’ half-games. I also think, however, that after six months of ‘release testing’ we can get a good impression as to whether a company is ever going to sort its act out. Six months are up, Mythic…

@Ysharros: The grumpy old bear club always welcomes new members, we’re just one big happy bundle of grumpy, yet cuddly, fur and claws. And yes, paper cuts is a good metaphor, none of the problems are game breaking or prevent one from actually playing, but they are indicative of the fundamental attitude of the developers to, say, provide seasonal event grinds rather than fix basic problems with their game’s UI.

Hmm, time for that third cup of coffee, I think.

Also, this is comment 666. OoooOOoooo. Dun dun dunnnnnn!

I know what you mean. EVE Online doesn’t remember default locations for windows, so every agent you talk to and every new ship’s cargo hold you open will have the window in the game’s default and not where you have put every other single one in the past.

More pertinently, the game forgets which comms channel had focus when you quit, always defaulting to a particular frame. Hardly as bad as having to resize and position windows each log-in, but if it were as bad as that it may have convinced me to stop playing quite a while back.

There’s actually an addon out there already that fixes that, but that’s neither here nor there.

It is very annoying and you shouldn’t even need a friggin’ addon to fix stupid little stuff like that.
