Great tips, thank you! LotRO is now patched and ready to go.

I'm sure I'll wake up tomorrow with a tremendous new year's hangover and find that I've fed my clothes, put the cat in the wash, and bought a lifetime subscription to LotRO.

Hmm, maybe I should hide my credit cards before I start drinking tonight.

Most servers will have a custom user channel set up called something like 'globallff'.

Just type: /joinchannel globallff

Then make sure your chat window's filters are set up to display user channel 1, and then type: /1

Since MoM launched, more than a few idiots have been using globallff more like a globalooc, because they have a bigger audience for their buffoonery. Judicious use of the ignore feature for a day or two should ensure that you only see genuine requests.

Also, while the volume 1 epic books have some great moments, there isn't any harm in putting them off until you can find groups for the bits you need. You can start volume 2 at the gates of Moria without having completed any of volume 1.

It's good to know that there's plenty of solo content.

My only concerns are the North Downs slog and finding people to do the book chapters with, but if it's still possible to PuG without too much grief then that may well alleviate those concerns.

<i>"Let's hunt some Orc."</i>

I'm not going to lie to you. The Lone-lands/North Downs combo is still pretty grim, but push through that and there is the lovely Evendim, a much-improved-from-launch Trollshaws, Misty Mountains & Angmar, the huge solo-orientated Forochel, then onwards into the very pleasant Eregion, followed by Moria in all its glory, which is equivalent to 3 or 4 of the bigger regions. By the time you get there there'll likely be Lothlorien in its entirety and another yet-to-be-announced region.

The majority of the content is solo orientated, but the community is such that even pugging isn't usually a chore for the occasional small/full fellowship quest that crops up.

Hmm, I have a bunch of characters in LotRO that I could pick up. If the mid-twenties grindfest of DOOM has been sorted out, it may well be worth dipping my toe back in again. Level 26 guardian, 25 minstrel or 15 Champion, though? All dwarves, of course. Or maybe start a dwarf Runemaster.

Hoom hrum, decisions decisions! Still, nice to have the choice, of games as well as characters, thanks for the reminder!

Lots of interesting leveling content in LotRO, with Moria as a delicious cherry on top. Two new classes to pick from also.

Thanks matey! I'm sure I could be convinced to pick up my druid or paladin if you and or Zoso ever pop back into WoW.

Glad to see you're still having a blast over on the US servers with all the deathing and knighting and such.

I'm sorry, Melmoth. My EU WoW is on a back-up drive at the moment, waiting for my desktop computer to be repaired. Tiger is still available for hot elf-on-dwarf action for the future.
